You want to know how Victoria Beckham stays so impossibly svelte? So does the rest of the world—and a few weeks ago, she gave us a little hint, Tweeting “My new thing!! Eat one tsp a day!!” and a picture of Virgin Raw Food’s Bee Panacea, a thick and syrupy blend of 20 superfoods (spirulina, chlorella, maca root) and herbs (cinnamon, ginseng) in a sweet base of raw royal honey, bee pollen, and royal jelly.
Victoria Beckham’s Diet Obsession
The company’s website says the product nourishes the body, strengthens metabolism for weight loss, optimizes digestion, eliminates toxins, increases endurance, mental clarity and libido, clears the skin, and ends world hunger. (Kidding on that last one.) Naturally, we asked New York City registered dietician Lauren Slayton for a second opinion. “I’m the first one to point out when a product is all hype, but bee panacea might actually help when it comes to losing weight,” she told us. “Cinnamon aids blood sugar regulation, cayenne is a metabolism booster and bee pollen contains the amino acid phenylalanine that regulates appetite.” Her only hesitation? “How much of each of those things could you really get in a single spoonful?” It’s also worth noting that it tastes downright delicious—meaning sticking to the recommended 25-calorie teaspoon might be easier than it sounds.
